About Chemical polishing
Single-sided lapping is a processing method that super-precisely finishes only one side of a workpiece using free abrasive grains and a lapping plate. It is characterized by achieving high flatness and extremely low surface roughness (including mirror finish), with minimal processing distortion. It is primarily used in the manufacturing of hard and brittle materials such as semiconductor wafers, optical lenses, magnetic heads, ceramics, and glass, as well as precision machine parts. The workpiece is held in a carrier, and material is removed through a combination of chemical and mechanical actions by the abrasive slurry supplied between the workpiece and the lapping plate. This technology is an indispensable precision machining technique for improving product functionality and reliability.
