About Friction welding
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) is a welding method where the arc generated between the welding wire and the base metal is completely covered by granular flux. It is characterized by a good working environment because arc light and fumes are not emitted externally. Welding at high current and high deposition rates is possible, resulting in deep penetration and high-quality welds. It is mainly used for long-seam welding and circumferential welding of thick plates, and is widely utilized in shipbuilding, bridges, pressure vessels, pipelines, and the manufacturing of H-beams. Not only single-wire, but also multi-electrode methods such as twin-wire and tandem welding are adopted, making it a processing method suitable for automation, contributing to improved productivity and efficiency.
