About Thread grinding
Screw grinding is a precision finishing process performed on high-hardness materials after heat treatment, and on screw components that require extremely high precision and excellent surface roughness. By directly grinding the screw threads using a grinding wheel, it achieves micron-order pitch accuracy, lead accuracy, thread form accuracy, and excellent surface quality. Main applications include ball screws and lead screws for machine tools, feed screws for precision measuring instruments, aerospace components, mold components, and high-precision thread gauges. Processing methods include form grinding, where the grinding wheel is shaped to the thread groove profile, and traverse grinding, where the grinding wheel moves along the thread groove. There are also methods based on workpiece support, such as centerless grinding and center-type grinding. This significantly improves the functionality, durability, and reliability of screws.
