About CO2 laser machining
CO2 laser processing is a technology that uses a laser oscillator with CO2 gas as the medium to process materials with long-wavelength laser light of approximately 10.6 μm. It is widely used mainly for non-metallic materials such as wood, acrylic, paper, fabric, and rubber, as well as for cutting, engraving, marking, and welding of thin sheet metals. It is easy to achieve high output power, and because it is non-contact processing, there is little physical stress on the material, enabling high-speed and high-precision processing while suppressing the heat-affected zone (HAZ). By using assist gas in conjunction, the removal of molten material and prevention of oxidation are also carried out. It is widely utilized in various industrial fields, from prototyping to mass production.
