About Keyway milling
Cemented carbide is a composite material primarily composed of tungsten carbide (WC), manufactured by sintering it with a binder such as cobalt (Co). It possesses extremely high hardness, wear resistance, heat resistance, and excellent compressive strength, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. Its main applications include cutting tools for metalworking (drills, end mills, inserts, etc.), press dies, drawing dies, wear-resistant parts, and mining and civil engineering tools. Due to its high hardness, post-sintering processing is difficult, with electrical discharge machining (EDM), grinding with diamond wheels, and laser processing being the primary machining methods. This significantly contributes to extending tool life and improving machining accuracy.
