About Planer machining
Planer machining is a mechanical processing method where a workpiece is firmly fixed, and a cutting tool called a "bite" (or single-point cutting tool) is moved in a linear reciprocating motion to perform cutting. It is primarily used for machining flat surfaces of large workpieces, and there are two main types: the "table reciprocating type" where the workpiece reciprocates, and the "tool reciprocating type" where the tool reciprocates. It is widely applied for machining flat surfaces, grooves, T-slots, and dovetail grooves on large parts such as molds, jigs, and beds and tables of machine tools, where high flatness and surface finish are required. Although the cutting speed is relatively slow, its characteristic feature is the ability to achieve high-precision flat machining for large workpieces due to its rigid machine structure and appropriate cutting conditions. Its efficiency and precision are particularly valued for base machining of large parts and when machining multiple surfaces simultaneously.
