Their purpose is to impart functions such as product weight reduction, heat insulation, shock absorption, or a unique tactile feel, and they are widely used in automotive parts, casings and insulation materials for home appliances, building materials, packaging materials, and more. They are characterized by a structure that controls gas generation and injection within the mold to optimize material filling and foaming. As low-pressure molding is possible, they are also suitable for molding large and thick-walled products. For mold manufacturing, in addition to precise machining, polishing of the mold cavity surface and special coatings, which influence the product's surface quality, are crucial. Common materials include aluminum alloys and steel, with durability and thermal conductivity also being important considerations.
