CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) is a composite material made by solidifying carbon fibers as a reinforcing material with a matrix resin such as epoxy resin. Its greatest feature is that it is extremely lightweight while possessing specific strength and specific rigidity that surpass steel. It also combines excellent fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, and X-ray permeability. Its main applications are diverse, including structural components for aircraft and automobiles, wind turbine blades, sporting goods, and medical equipment. Common processing methods include lamination and curing processes such as autoclave molding, RTM (Resin Transfer Molding), and press molding. In secondary processing, because it is a high-hardness and anisotropic material, machining using diamond tools, waterjet, and laser processing are employed, and suppressing delamination and burr formation becomes an important challenge.
