Nickel-chrome (rack) plating is a type of electroplating, a surface treatment technology primarily used to impart decorative appeal, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. Rack plating is suitable for products with complex shapes, large parts, and those requiring a high-quality appearance, as individual parts are fixed to a jig (rack) and immersed in the plating bath. The underlying nickel plating layer provides excellent corrosion resistance, smoothness, and luster, and even higher corrosion resistance can be achieved by combining multiple nickel layers (e.g., semi-bright, bright, microporous). The chromium plating layer applied on top imparts hardness, wear resistance, and a distinctive beautiful luster. Its aesthetic and functional properties are utilized in a wide range of fields, including automotive parts (bumpers, grilles), home appliances, faucets, building materials, and furniture components.
